Vector 1.0 – Direction towards aspiration

Engineering being a career-specific field which requires you to carefully choose the stream as almost none of the fields overlap each other. This complication is due to it’s diversity and vastness of the field, hence it’s really important to saturate one’s affinity towards a particular stream in engineering. This identification process comprises of knowing where the passion lies and also seeing themselves working in that particular field taking it up as a career. Under our Synapse programme we have started the Vector series in which we guide our students on the various careers in engineering as well as the careers apart from engineering through PCM. Electronics engineers may choose to specialize in various areas like biomedical engineering, microelectronics, power electronics, communications, manufacture of equipment etc. or in one particular specialty within these areas, for example analog and digital electronics or fiber optics. These engineers are responsible for designing new products, writing reports on their performance, as well as overseeing their maintenance. Testing equipment and machinery, solving problems related to operation, and estimating time and cost of products also comes under their job.

Mr. Suyash Dongare – B.E. (Civil) & Digital Marketing


Having completed his engineering in the Civil stream and then moving onto the most emerging field of Digital Marketing, he possesses a very diverse knowledge of both the fields. Mr. Dongare is also the guest lecturer at the prestigious KJ Somaiya Institute of Management and Research since 4 years. Apart from his academic achievements his professional accomplishments include working as Digital MArketing evangelist with 6.5 years holding the designation of Group Head – Digital Planning and Strategy instrumental in setting up a startup in India and UAE.

Difference between Computer Science and Software Engineering

There is a general confusion between computer science and software engineering. Understanding the difference is quite important as both the streams deal with computer software and virtually everything related. The way to understand this difference is by going with the given nomenclature in the names ‘engineer’ and ‘science’. Engineers are generally conceived as someone who develops solutions to problems or creating more efficient processes using tools already in existence. Software engineers in particular develop new softwares using the existing languages and tools. On the other hand computer ‘science’ deals with the ‘science’ i.e applying the knowledge in researching on new languages or algorithms that will eventually be put to use in creating new softwares. having said that, these two fields are a overlapping circles in a Venn diagram where both the streams are interrelated and basically work towards software development, one more practical and the other more theoretical.
